I had cultivated strategic partnerships with some brands such as Tom, KORG, etc. The current business model primarily involves brand sales and wholesale operations through physical stores, while also offering instrument repair and musical training. The store generates an annual profit of around 40,000 and 60,000 Canadian dollars. This experience has sharpened my skills in distribution, sales, wholesale, and post-sales services, providing me with a comprehensive understanding of various facets of supply chain management.

However, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the store's operations have hit a plateau, with annual profits remaining constant and showing no significant growth. Also, I have recognized certain limitations in my expertise, particularly in the areas of warehousing, and logistics. My attempts at self-learning to build a comprehensive knowledge base in supply chain management have proven to be a challenging endeavor. Hence, I hold a strong desire to pursue a structured and comprehensive education in supply chain management.

As a developing country, China lags behind in the field of supply chain management, with only a limited number of schools offering relevant courses. Most of these courses emphasize theoretical aspects with minimal practical exposure. In contrast, the Canadian higher education system excels in imparting cutting-edge technology and advanced management knowledge, along with substantial practical training opportunities.

Cape Breton University’s Supply Chain Management program comprehensively covers all aspects of the supply chain, including materials, finance, warehousing, logistics, and transportation to name a few. The advanced knowledge in warehousing and logistics management at this school will teach me how to reduce inventory holding costs, minimize transportation expenses, and mitigate logistics delays. These skills will be instrumental in helping me enhance the profitability and overall revenue of my business. What further enhances the appeal of this program is the 12-week internship in the fourth semester, which offers me a valuable opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world supply chain scenarios. Additionally, Sydney is a beautiful coastal city with a close-knit community where I can immerse myself in Canadian culture.

Upon completion of my studies in Canada, I plan to return to China where the supply chain sector is experiencing rapid and dynamic growth. The demand for professionals with a strong background in supply chain management is substantial. Therefore, I firmly believe that I will have more opportunities to make a significant leap in my career. In the future, I plan to apply the knowledge and skills I have acquired to expand my business by establishing more stores and warehouses for instrument sales in my hometown and across my country, aiming to boost profits. I also intend to broaden our scope of operations by offering music education programs and courses, hiring professional instructors to teach a variety of instrument-playing techniques, and pursuing diversified growth. I am confident that acquiring this qualification will enhance the development of my business.
